S’mae! I’m Elin – a Welsh tutor, resource‑maker, writer, and musician living in Derbyshire, England.
Tyfu Cymraeg began as a tiny side project many years ago, and over time it’s grown into a warm, welcoming space for anyone learning Welsh, whether you’re just starting out, returning to the language, or teaching it to others.

I first learned Welsh when I was eighteen, after starting a degree in Welsh at Aberystwyth University and went on to spend a summer studying intensively at Lampeter before graduating with a BA (Hons) in Welsh in 2004. Since then, I’ve continued to grow my skills and confidence as a teacher and a creative: I hold a City & Guilds qualification in Further Education teaching, and later completed a Master’s degree in Creative Writing with the Open University. All of these threads – language, teaching, creativity – weave together in the resources I make today.
I’ve been teaching Welsh since around 2005, when I first began running classes in Derby. Since then, I’ve taught learners from all over the world in all sorts of settings: evening classes, workshops, one‑to‑one lessons, online sessions, community groups, and more. For many years I taught at the Derby One Day Welsh School, which was one of the happiest, most inspiring parts of my teaching life. Alongside teaching, I’m also a published author and a musician, and I’m currently working on a PhD at Bangor in the School of Welsh. All of these creative strands shape the way I design resources: clear, friendly, colourful, and made with care.
Here on Tyfu Cymraeg you’ll find:
- free worksheets and vocabulary sheets
- printable flashcards
- quizzes and games
- gentle explanations of tricky grammar
- seasonal activities for families and classrooms
- and the occasional cosy blog post about learning Welsh in real life
Everything I make is shaped by years of teaching experience and a genuine love for the language. My aim is always the same: to help you grow your Welsh in a way that feels manageable, encouraging and fun. Tyfu Cymraeg is a one‑woman project, supported by lovely people who download resources, members of the Learners’ Club, and those who buy me the occasional coffee. Every bit of support helps me keep creating free materials for the whole community.
If you’re learning Welsh, teaching it, or just curious about the language, you’re very welcome here.
Make yourself at home, help yourself to the resources, and let’s grow your Welsh together.
Diolch o galon for being here.
